Define your home’s DNA. Before the builders need answers.
Pre-Renovation Design
Get clear on your home before the expensive work begins.
Planning a renovation can feel overwhelming. You might know your home needs to change, but you’re not sure what layout will work best, where to spend your budget, or how to make every room feel connected. That’s where Pre-Renovation Design comes in.
Before you commit to major decisions, we help you create a clear design direction for your home — from the layout and flow to the finishes, lighting, storage, and overall look and feel. This gives you the confidence to move forward with your architect, builder, kitchen designer, or trades with a much clearer plan.
Why this matters?
Renovations involve hundreds of decisions, and many of them become expensive to change once work has started. Without a clear plan, it’s easy to end up with a home that feels disjointed, a layout that doesn’t quite work, or finishes chosen in a rush because your builder needs an answer. Our Pre-Renovation Design service helps you make those key decisions early, so your home feels considered from the beginning.
Who this is for,
This service is ideal for you if:
- You’re planning a renovation, extension, or self-build
- You have architectural plans but need help with the interiors and finer details
- You’re not sure if your current layout is working as well as it could
- You want a clear vision before speaking to builders or trades
- You’re worried about making expensive mistakes with layout, finishes, lighting, or cabinetry
- You want your home to feel cohesive, not like a collection of separate rooms
What you walk away with,
Depending on where you are in your renovation journey, we can help you clarify:
LAYOUT & FLOW
How each space works, how rooms connect, and whether the layout supports the way you actually live.
ROOM ZONING AND FURNITURE PLANNING
Where key furniture pieces, storage, and functional zones should sit before final decisions are made.
KITCHEN, BATHROOM AND JOINERY DIRECTION
Early design concepts for the most expensive and permanent areas of the home.
LIGHTING AND ELECTIRCAL PLANNING
A considered approach to sockets, switches, feature lighting, task lighting, and everyday functionality.
FINISHES AND MATERIAL SELECTION
Flooring, tiles, paint colours, hardware, stone, timber, and other key finishes that create a cohesive home.
OVERALL DESIGN CONCEPT
A clear “design DNA” for your home, so every room feels connected and intentional.
Planning a renovation but not sure where to start?
Pre-Renovation Design gives you a clear, cohesive plan for your home, helping you avoid rushed decisions, costly changes, and rooms that don’t quite work together.
How we work together,
01 / Initial Call
We start with a consultation to understand your home, your plans, your lifestyle, and what you’re hoping to achieve from the renovation.
We’ll talk through what currently isn’t working, what decisions are worrying you, and where you need the most clarity before moving forward.
02 / Onboarding
Once booked in, you’ll complete a design questionnaire and send over everything we need to understand your home properly.
This may include your floor plans, measurements, photos, videos, inspiration images, Pinterest boards, architect drawings, and any notes about what is and isn’t currently working in the space.
03 / Layout & Design
Next, we look at how your home should work as a whole.
This includes the flow between rooms, how each space will be used, key furniture placement, storage needs, and the overall look and feel you want to create.
04 / Design Details
We help you think through the permanent details that bring the whole home together.
This may include lighting positions, sockets and switches, flooring, tiles, paint colours, hardware, worktops, sanitaryware, and other finishes your builder or trades may need from you.
05 / Your Renovation Plan
You’ll receive a clear, practical design plan that pulls everything together.
This gives you a strong direction for your renovation and helps you speak to your architect, builder, kitchen designer, or trades with more confidence.
